2025 is our FIFTH year of teaching beginner riding lessons here at Medley Farmstead! Time really FLIES!! We are thankful for everyone who has been a part of 'the barn family' over the years!
We hope everyone is having a blessed 2025 so far! Things have been going well here on the farmstead. Beau (our November rescue horse) had his first Veterinarian appointment here and that went very well. We are happy to have been given the news that his health is good over-all and he has the all-clear for riding (in fact the doctor says that will help him put on muscle). Fern and Phil are also doing well and are loving having lessons back in session after taking December off. Be sure to say hi to them all when you come out!
We had 3 riders graduate between November and January! We are very proud of Ruby & Sage H. and Avery N. All three girls rode with us and did camps/classes over the last few years and we are excited to follow along in their progress as they move into in-person showing and advancing onto their next-step riding programs!
We created 1/2 hour lesson spots with these openings and we will continue to offer those at a lower price for the cold-wintertime. We are excited to welcome new a la carte students into these spots for February: Chloe and Jinx! We were also able to fit in two of our continuing a la carte riders: Abby & Sadie for February! We are excited to have you back!!
NEWS: Olivia (our main instructor), celebrated her 19th birthday this month! She finished her last quarter at Edmonds College before Christmas & has taken a position working with Dr. Dana Westerman, Veterinarian and her team at Professional Equine Therapeutic Services in Monroe. Olivia will continue teaching here at Medley Farmstead on Wednesdays! We are so lucky to have her and we are excited that she will be able to share even more equine knowledge with us and our students.
BUSINESS: IF YOU HAVE NOT YET DONE SO, Please remember to print out a new copy of the WAIVER part of the welcome packet (attached) for 2025 and bring it to your next lesson. We need to have a 2025 copy on file for our Farm & Equine Insurance Company- for all students before their next lesson.
REMINDER: WE DO NOT CANCEL FOR WEATHER UNLESS THE ROADS ARE IMPACTED. There is always much to learn about horsemanship regardless of the weather. We will touch base if your lessons fall on a day that the roads are bad (we have typically two make-up days per year if needed).
We are looking forward to 2025 and the days getting longer! We have been blessed with a beautifully dry January and we are soaking up the sun. We hope you can take a moment to go outside soon on a clear winter night and look up at the stars - take a few minutes of quiet to be thankful and count your blessings - they are as numerous as the stars.
