It’s Autumn!

We have both feet into Autumn on the farmstead. The leaves are beautiful & the weather is full of daily variations. This is the time of year where things seem a bit dreary & then the sun breaks through, making the trees glow & the river sparkle. We have had a bit more rain & cool weather in September & October this year, but every lesson day has been clear or dry enough to ride!

The big news on the farmstead is our adoption of Freyja (Kjor Sonja is her registered Norwegian Fjord name). She has been home for a couple weeks now, had her teeth floated & a vet check-up. At the checkup we discovered her micro-chip information which was exciting for us. She lived her first 20 years in South Dakota but seems to be settling in here & later today she is getting a body-clip & a bath! Fingers crossed that all goes well 😅 it can be a little nerve wracking when doing things for the first time with a very big drafty horse, but she is a sweet girl & we just love her!

Last month we had 3 students participate in Grit ‘N Grace online Horse Show & each of them earned ribbons, had fun & most importantly learned and progressed in their riding! We are so proud of them. This month another student will be entering the October show! Trying new things & ‘putting yourself out-there’ to be judged takes humility & courage! Two traits you definitely need to become a good rider.

We welcomed some new students this month & it has been a joy getting to know our new students & their families.

Until next time, we wish you all a healthy & happy Autumn!
